The Fall Class Series

Nothing in your life changes if you keep giving more of yourself to everyone than yourself. This fall, Rev. Yayi Joyce is holding four classes to bring you back to your own altar.

A live monthly gathering with Rev. Yayi Joyce, open to the wider Hoodoo Praise House community. $27, typically the last Wednesday of every month, 7:30 to 9:00 PM Eastern.

Things to Know

Who are the cleansing classes for?

The Caring for the Altar of You class series is open to all Black, Brown, and Indigenous people of color who feel called to this work.

Who are Hoodoo Office Hours for?

Hoodoo Office Hours are a sacred gathering held specifically for Black people who are descendants of American enslavement. To attend, you must identify as Black and carry lineage from American enslavement. This boundary is held with care and intention. Hoodoo is an Ancestral tradition rooted in that specific history, and this space honors that.

Are there replays if I miss a session?

There are no replays for classes or Office Hours. These are live gatherings, and your presence is part of the experience. If you do miss a class in the Caring for the Altar of You series, PDF materials are available in your student portal so you can still receive the teaching.

Do I need to be on camera?

Yes. Cameras must be on for all classes and Office Hours. We honor the Ancestors by being fully present, not multitasking, not half-listening. If you cannot attend and give the space your full attention, it is simply not the right time for you to join. There will always be another class.

Can I ask personal divination questions during Office Hours?

Office Hours is a community gathering rooted in presence, not personal readings. We do not take individual divination questions during this time. If you are seeking a personal reading, you can book a Divination session separately.

Do I need to know anything about Hoodoo before joining?

No prior experience needed. Beginners are welcome. All experience levels are welcome. Just come with an open mind, an open heart, and be of the Black American experience. These are foundational classes you can add to your spiritual toolkit, whether or not you continue with any other offerings.

Where do the classes happen?

All classes and Office Hours take place virtually through Zoom. You will receive the link after registration.

Can I take the classes out of order?

Yes. Each class in the Caring for the Altar of You series stands on its own. These are foundational teachings you can add to your spiritual toolkit at any point, even if you do not go any further into other classes or offerings with Rev. Yayi Joyce.

Can I sponsor a seat for someone?

Yes. If you would like to support this work, whether you are Black, Brown, Indigenous, or a non-Black ally, you can sponsor a seat for someone to attend Hoodoo Office Hours. This is one of the most meaningful ways to contribute to this community. If the person you sponsor is unable to attend, the sponsorship carries forward to the following month.
